Faith in Action Awards

Three of our current Y9 students, Martha, Segen and Isabel, were awarded their bronze award for completing the ‘Faith in Action’ programme last year.  These students were also part of the HYCL group (Hallam Young Chaplaincy Leaders).  The students attended a celebration evening at Houlden Hall on 10th September where Bishop Ralph presented the girls with their certificates and bronze award badges.  Thank you to all three students for their dedication to HYCL and for being faithful young people!

In other news, our school chaplain Suzanne recently attended the Association of Catholic Chaplains in Education (ACCE) conference in Leeds. The theme for conference was ‘Here I am Lord, send me!’ (Isaiah 6:8) There were some very inspirational speakers, one of who spoke about the difficulty of defining the role of a chaplain in school and how we do not have a ‘typical’ day! We are definitely not all the same. A chaplain has to bring to others the experience that they are precious and to see the face of God in EVERYONE. The Lord sends us in different directions and sometimes to face difficult situations but we need to be the ‘revealers’ of the presence of God already hidden in the listeners.
